E. Mitchell Arion, V.M.D.


Dr. Mitchell Arion received his doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 1985. After providing medical and surgical care to animals at various hospitals in our region, he opened the Caroline Veterinary Clinic in 1992. Originally a one exam room facility attached to his home, the clinic moved to Ridgely in 2007. The new hospital is situated in a restored Victorian home and allows us to provide better care to our patients and their owners. Dr. Arion enjoys playing ice hockey and golf as well as painting and drawing animals. He has two daughters, and lives with his wife, Vicki, along with their dog, Bingley, and three cats.  They have also raised several dogs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

Matthew Weeman, D.V.M.


Dr. Matthew Weeman is a graduate of The Ohio State University where he received his Doctorate degree in 2013 and graduated as the president of his class. He went on to obtain his Master’s degree in Comparative and Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Dr. Weeman spent two years practicing mixed animal medicine in upstate New York prior to relocating to the Eastern Shore in 2015. He practiced at another hospital for over a year before joining us at Caroline Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Weeman grew up on a dairy farm and is excited to share his passion for veterinary medicine with you and your pets. In his spare time he enjoys working with local 4-H groups and FFA teams. He’s an avid runner and has hiked to some of the highest mountain peaks in Utah’s National Parks. He lives with his wife Hannah, his dog, Cooper, and their cat who he will eternally refer to as his “kitten”.

Vicki Arion


Vicki has been with the Caroline Veterinary Clinic since it first opened in 1992. She has a deep love for animals and over the years, Vicki and her husband, Dr. Arion, have adopted many dogs, cats, and farm animals, including sheep, goats, and a llama. They have raised several dogs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind as well.  She is an avid tennis player and an accomplished quilter and a mother of two daughters.

Lisa Trippett


Lisa has been a veterinary technician for over 25 years and has worked at the Caroline Veterinary Clinic since 1999. She has special interests in animal behavior and training techniques. Lisa competes in AKC obedience, rally, agility and barn hunt trials. She is an AKC approved evaluator for Canine Good Citizen Certification and is also certified in laser therapy. Lisa and her son have 3 dogs: Asher, Charlie and Jade and multiple cats all rescued from the local shelter.

Chelsea Tilghman


Chelsea has been a veterinary technician for five years. After moving to the Eastern Shore from Baltimore, she joined the Caroline Veterinary Clinic in 2017. Prior to becoming a technician, Chelsea had worked at numerous animal care facilities including boarding kennels, doggy daycares, and animal shelters. In her spare time, she enjoys going on photography adventures, being outdoors, and relaxing with her two kitties, Goose and Taco.

Denise Taylor


Denise joined our practice in 2016. She previously completed the veterinary assistant program at Chesapeake Community College in 2011, which included numerous internships at local veterinary hospitals. After gaining her certification, she has worked in veterinary hospitals and also volunteered at the Caroline County Humane Society. In her spare time with her husband, they take care of their 15 cats, all rescued! (She must be out of her mind!)

Kathy Sponseller


Kathy has been a veterinary technician for over 10 years. She and her husband recently relocated here to the Eastern Shore from PA. She has 2 dogs, 3 cats, 1 cockatiel, and 18 ducks. In her spare time she and her husband enjoy fishing, boating and photographing wildlife. Although new to the Caroline Veterinary Clinic, she looks forward to caring for your pets as well as getting to know you!

Lauren Wilson, RVT


Lauren is a Registered Veterinary Technician and a graduate of the Harcum College of Veterinary Technology program including rotations at the University of Pennsylvania. She is certified in administering laser therapy. In early 2007 she moved to the Eastern Shore and came to work here, at the Caroline Veterinary Clinic. She has five cats, a dog and husband – all living together in Tolchester, just a short walk from the bay. When she is not taking care of her pets or your pet, you can find her sailing on the bay on her family’s sailboat.

Nycole Smith


Nycole has been a veterinary technician for the past 8 years. She has lived in the Caroline County area all of her life and started working at the Caroline Veterinary Clinic in 2017. Nycole currently has a husky, two cats, and is working on building a herd of goats. She enjoys spending time outdoors, being in nature, and also likes baking cakes and other sweet treats in the kitchen. Nycole loves working with animals and is looking forward to meeting your pets!

Lindsay Plummer


Lindsay joined our team in 2019. She has been a veterinary technician for 11 years. Lindsay has three dogs, 8 cats and four chickens. When she is not working or spending time with her pets she enjoys spending time outdoors and hopes to visit every US national park.

Samantha Tipton


Samantha is a college student seeking a degree in Animal Science with the goal of attending veterinary school after she graduates. She began her journey with the Caroline Veterinary Clinic her senior year of high school as an intern where she shadowed both the technicians and the doctors at the hospital. Samantha joined our staff as a veterinary technician in 2018 and works whenever she has a break from college. Working with animals is her passion and she looks forward to meeting your pets!
